The Dance of is & Might
00:50
|
|

Between the bookends, brother…
I found that note we hid
Tucked away one carefree day
When we were unwashed kids
And we’d race between those dog-eared dreams
And the warmth of the waking light
We had it right
No past in sight
The dance of is & might

White Paper

Simone, ma chere, I’ve heard tails of your laughter
And how you sway to that song with the spirit of the trees
Bringing life to all in need
Simone, you share more than you’ll ever know, dear
And while your belly burns, and begs
You fill us all with your hope-filled face
As your smile reminds that we’re all Authors
And we write our lives upon white paper
We need a rewrite
We need every hand in grain
We all need a moment carrying Simone’s strength and pain
To trace our common name
So Simone find hope in that there’s no ever-after
Keep ahold of change
And darlin’ just embrace our wholly-human faith
As your smile reminds that we’re all Authors
And we write our lives upon white paper

Last Call Love Song
03:28
|
|
||
Once more my love
Oh, into the fray
I know it’s late…
But what do you say?
And I know the play
For something like this
But there are worse ways to die
Than by your kiss
And all I need is to feel your hand pull on my sleeve
As I lead us out onto the floor
And when our tune is through, I’ll leave what’s next to you
As I know….
I won’t know what to do
With this last call love song

Floating

Why do we keep here all night…under the eyes of the porch lights?
When there ain’t no-one inside…and your nose on my cheek…
We don’t give in, but give way…oh, in this duel of red capes
I watch your finger…there it waits…in the buttonhole of my coat…
So are we right? Is this wrong? Are we the weak or the strong?
I don’t know.
I can’t say.
But from the ruins of other stars…here we are darlin’
So ready to burn again
And…so you know….baby, I’m game
I’ve been a’thinkin us through
Been building temples and tombs
All before the first stone’s been moved…
But ain’t that always the way?
See, I’ve been a’waitin’, and I’ve been wined
I’ve been collectin’ goodbyes
I’ve been searching for some light…in the buttonholes of new clothes
So are we right? Is this wrong? Are we the weak or the strong?
I don’t know.
I can’t say.
But from the ruins of other stars…here we are darlin’
So ready to burn again
And…so you know….if you can try…
baby, I’m game
It’s a fine night for floatin’ between the finite and all that could be
And with our music the multiverse teems
And things unsaid, still are read, as we’ve dreamed…

Hearts in Mind
02:39
|
|
||
My holding pattern of letting go - tonight…
Holding battles without fight
If when holding you, you find
It’s a little less tight…
’s hearts in mind
I go pacing Holy Road sometimes
And dig a trench to hide these sins
if I keep you high
on these stilts of white lies
’s hearts in mind
I get oh, so wise
I get hourglass eyes
When there’s hearts in mind
We’ll be purified
When I go black and white
With both hearts in mind
Holding both ends of the rope, tonight
Darlin’, I can’t let’em go
Else you’d surely find
All the ties to my crime
Hearts in mind

Sunnybrae
04:15
|
|
||
With you here inside
And the front door shut tight
I’m at peace…
All is right…
So the storm winds can blow
They can pound on this home…
As our fire will stay alight…
Oh, I kept an eye on the corner all night
Waiting for your lights to pull in…
And gone is the soot that had shadowed the day
The minute I see you again…
You’re my crawl back from the war
You’re my ship and my shore
You’re my shelter
You’re my center of all things true
And many a city’s street I’ve roamed
But I’ve only called one home
And wherever my feet may wander,
My heart…it finds its way…
To Sunnybrae.

Just a Man
05:44
|
|
||
As the road turned to stones, and all the lamps became one light
I passed him on the hill, as he descended from the heights
His face was grey with fear, but his brow, man, it was brave…
Like a boxer
Like a prophet who could only see today
He said “It’s right before our eyes….But it’s a hell of a climb…
So what would do with this place, if I were to tell you that it’s yours to frame…and there was no one else to carry the load?
Could you take on the weight?
Could you re-do this wholly cold and burnin’ room?”
“You see, I’m just a man who fell in love with everything that never was…
I’m just a man a’ ridin’ through, thinking never lost means you never lose
But now we’ve got these holy reigns
All and none to take the blame…
Tonight…”
“I’m just a man who saw the signs, and told’em all…from behind the blinds
Am just a man, made of toys and the monsters of a little boy…
But now we’ve got these holy reigns
All and none to take the blame…
Tonight…”
So half
“You see I’m just a man without a war, with no ideas what his hands are for
am just a man, all-said-not-done, who lay in wait for his kingdom come
But now the captain’s overboard…
So to what do we tie the cord,
Tonight?”
“I was just a man who bought the map for the promised and the beaten path,
Was just a man pushing his broom ‘round the edges of this waiting room…
But tonight the call came through…
The ‘chosen’ now must choose…“
“And though I’m just a man, I’ll take the stand tonight….
“I’ll take it on my shoulders, tonight
I’ll get behind my boulder, tonight
Godspeed into the chaos and old night…”

Sea & Shore
04:18
|
|
||
It was a rule to meet sunrise with that sketchbook at her side
In every city that she traveled through
And you know, I never asked her why, as you could tell in just that smile
The heaviest reasons lay in her lightest moves
And she called me out to sea
To show me the shore
Said “we’re all another’s light…
Now let me be yours”.
That day we tied those red balloons to the hope-filled winds of June
And we trailed them along the escarpment’s tail
Now two years on, a darker wind – her wishes now weathered in the firmament
But still she holds her wings to sail the swell
And she called me out to sea
To show me the shore
Said “we’re all another’s light…
Now let me be yours”.
In four simple words she turned this little ship around
As before her, life was just filling these fumbling hands
With the promise of foreign sands
And now with her here in the pour, the tides of led me to a place
To be more....

Go Write Love
01:19
|
|
||
Do you wait for the fates at their fortress…
Calling at the drawbridge all night?
Ever pleading for the reasons that would right all…
The wrong songs you’ve played through your life?
Do you find your fists forever knotted…
Holding on to all things out of reach?
Do you rage ‘gainst the claim that says it’s the days
To whom the years do teach?
Go write Love on your page
Trust the rest will fall in it’s place
You need not read anymore today…
Not with Love on your page….
Go write Love on your page.

From The Bridge Hamilton, Ontario
From The Bridge is a Ontario based musical act which blends a deeply melodic guitar sound with a rare brand of lyrical
introspection.
From The Bridge gets into you, permeates your senses. Each track, though separate, is seemingly linked together offering little interruption to the state to which you have been led. You find yourself aware, but drifting off to a place of similar contemplation.
